The Excitement of Quilt Market 2007
Quilt Festival has begun and market has finished in Houston for this year. There is always so much to see and experience at market! This year I have found several things that I am excited about and can hardly wait for my orders to arrive!
Moda's new Layer Cakes are pretty exciting. They are 10" precut squares of gorgeous fabrics from many of the Moda collections offered! They would be the equivalent of 4 charm packs except that the charms include one of each design, regardless of the number of designs in a collection, and the Layer Cakes will always contain 40 pieces, the same number as the Jelly Rolls have. They will retail for the same price as the Jelly Rolls, usually around $30.00 us. I'm sure many designers will be cranking out new patterns using the Layer Cakes and Jelly Rolls. "Cake Mix" by Cozy Quilt Designs is one that I have found at market. It requires one Layer Cake and one Jelly Roll plus a couple yards of fabric. The pattern front shows it made up in April Cornell's Maypole for Moda.
My favorite (at this moment anyway) may be Swell by Urban Chiks It's so hard to pick a favorite but I absolutely loved these designing girls and the entire line was just great! Their display of coordinated bedding and all of the other accessories made available from Moda Home caught my eye right off!
I have ordered this entire line which includes aprons, table covers, sheets, quilts, shams, kitchen towels and more, including the whole line of fabric! The arrival date is scheduled for February 2008 and will be available here ! I can hardly wait!
Wee Play by American Jane is another collection from Moda that I really liked. They offer a Moda To Go Jelly Roll in a collectible tin which includes a pattern to make a really cute 52"x41" wallhanging or coverlet. Sandy Klop, designer for American Jane patterns has many wonderful patterns available.
As much as I love Moda, there are many more finds from this market that I want you to see! I will post those a little later as this is my very first blog and I want to see what it looks like! There is a very special lady that I met and want you to know more about. You will meet her soon!
Until next time,
Sue
